MAYOR CEMİL DEMİRYÜREK'S SEGE-2025 ASSESSMENT
YALOVA RANKS 9TH, FIRST IN TURKEY IN TECHNOLOGY-FOCUSED EMPLOYMENT
The Socio-Economic Development Ranking of Provinces (SEGE-2025) report, published by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, comprehensively assessed the economic, social, and structural development levels of provinces while presenting Turkey's development map.
According to the SEGE-2025 study, prepared using eight main headings and 52 indicators: demography, employment, education, health, competitiveness, financial structure, accessibility, and quality of life, Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Kocaeli, Antalya, Bursa, Eskişehir, and Muğla were ranked among the first-tier developed provinces.
YALOVA AMONG TURKEY'S 10 MOST DEVELOPED PROVINCES
According to the report, Yalova ranked 9th out of 81 provinces, making it one of Turkey's 10 most developed provinces.
Yalova, currently in the Second-Level Developed Provinces group, achieved remarkable success by ranking first in this group.
YTSO Chairman Cemil Demiryürek commented on the SEGE-2025 results, stating:
“This report is an important roadmap that reveals the socio-economic structure of our provinces based on scientific data. The SEGE results offer us the opportunity to consolidate our strengths and focus on areas for improvement. Yalova has once again proven its dynamism and potential by ranking in the top 10 in the general development index.”
TURKEY'S CHAMPION IN TECHNOLOGY-INTENSE EMPLOYMENT
Mayor Demiryürek emphasized that Yalova has performed above the national average, particularly in employment, demographics, and financial structure:
“Yalova ranked first in Turkey in the percentage of employees working in high- and medium-high-tech sectors. It also ranked first nationwide in the active labor force participation rate of the working-age population. These data clearly demonstrate the level of our city's production capacity and skilled workforce.”
Demiryürek stated that Yalova's ranking first in Turkey in demographic indicators also indicates the province's young and dynamic population structure.
RISE IN ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL INDICATORS
According to SEGE-2025 data, Yalova also ranked high in economic indicators.
The province; • 2nd in Turkey in terms of investment amount under incentive certificates,
• 5th in the number of foreign-owned companies,
• 5th in manufacturing industry employment rate,
• 7th in GDP per capita,
• 6th in tax revenue per capita.
Demiryürek emphasized that these indicators demonstrate that Yalova is a competitive, productive, and attractive investment center, saying, “Our ranking in the top 10 in financial structure, competitiveness, and innovative capacity indicators is a concrete reflection of the momentum we have gained in industry, trade, services, and tourism sectors.”
ROOM FOR DEVELOPMENT: EMPHASIS ON QUALITY IN HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE
Yalova has risen to the 9th most developed province in Turkey in the overall rankings thanks to its high performance in economic and employment-focused variables. The province is Turkey's champion in employment rates and active labor force participation in high-technology sectors, while maintaining its top 10 ranking in education indicators (ranked 10th). However, despite the province's strong economic structure, there is significant room for improvement in its healthcare (ranked 49th) and quality of life (ranked 24th) infrastructures, indicating that social services lag behind the overall level of development. This reinforces the point that sustainable development can be achieved not only through economic growth but also through balanced development in all areas, from education to health.
"WE WILL GROW YALOVA'S POWER TOGETHER"
At the end of his statement, Mayor Demiryürek emphasized the importance of joint action to ensure the permanence of Yalova's successes:
"As Yalova, we will work with our public institutions, local governments, universities, and private sector representatives to implement policies that will improve the quality of life for our citizens. The SEGE-2025 results have provided us with the opportunity to develop a vision that will further enhance Yalova's potential. Yalova continues to be the rising star of the Marmara Region with its strong industrial structure, qualified human resources, and investment environment."
